In June 2018 Erin attended this wonderful three day conference with dear friend and fellow UofA graduate Haley Reap. This event created by WP Puppet Theatre was at the University of Calgary campus and Erin was able to take in a wide variety of talks, workshops and puppet related experiences. It was a true joy to share this experience with Haley!

A significant highlight for Erin was the Puppet Lantern Build Workshop lead by Nan Balkwill (co-director of Iinisikimm: A Homecoming for the Buffalo of Banff National Park). This experience had a significant impact on Erin's co-design for the elephant puppet featured in Matara (WWPT, 2019).

I am currently living in ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Amiskwacîwâskahikan) on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional lands of First Nations and Métis people.

Edmonton (as it is known colonially) is and has been home to a diverse range of Indigenous nations and peoples, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Tsuutʼina, Inuit, and many others.

Since time immemorial, this land has been a meeting place for this diverse range of Indigenous peoples, who have enriched this place with their histories, languages, and cultures. As a settler I have benefitted from Indigenous generosity, hospitality, and knowledge and for that I wishes to express her gratitude.
